Ebony dug at her face again. Panic filled her chest, she couldn’t breathe. She stood up hoping oxygen would come to her. She pulled on her ears, trying to draw a breath.

People were staring. She somehow always drew unwanted attention. She needed to roar, but she would alarm people if she roared on the train.

God could they make these aisles anymore narrow. She dug her nails into the back of her neck. She needed air.

“Can I help you with something?”

“I need air”

“There is no outside space on the train.”

“Where is the bathroom”

“Down the hall third door on the right”

“Great, thanks”

She pulled the door shut and closed her hands in a fist to stop the shaking. She needed a cigarette bad!

One drag of the cigarette brought her peace. The pressure in her chest released. Now all she had to do was keep the alarm from going off. Why did she spend her last dollar on a train ticket. As if she thought a destination far away would change her life. What was she thinking?

Once the nicotine coma began she made her way back to her seat. As she exited the bathroom she saw a woman with long blonde hair and green eyes. She knew her, but from where.

“How are you doing?”

Ebony stared in awe. Her voice was calming, she knew her voice. “I know you from somewhere.”

“Well we haven’t meant it this lifetime, but maybe we know each other from another life.”

“Yes, that is probably it.”

“Now who are you in this lifetime?”

“I have no idea I am kind of a mess.”

“I will help, why don’t you come to my private cabin.”

Ebony had nothing left to lose and no where to go. This woman gave off a vibe of kindness and love something she hadn’t experienced in a long time, “Sure, show me the way.”
