Wrong Lane

“Daven, seatbelt?”
“Check!”
“Knox, seatbelt?”
“Check!”
“Paxton, seatbelt?”
“Check, mom.”
“Why do you do that?”
“I want to make sure the children are buckled up.”
“Jesus, they are always buckled up, just give it a rest.”
“Okay, we are good and heading home.”
“Let’s get moving. I can’t wait to get the f*** out of this town.”
“I know.”
“Where the f*** are you going?”
“To the main road.”
“You are taking forever. I should have driven. You are so f***ing slow.”
Deep breath, oh God, I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe! He is going to hurt me. What did I do? I have to breathe. I hope he doesn’t see my hands shaking.
“What did you say?”
“Nothing.”
“That’s right, you got nothing important to say so shut your mouth. This better be the f***ing right way.”
“We turn on the main road up here. See there are two lanes turning onto the main road.”
“You better be right.”
Okay I need to be in the left turn lane. Oh God, this isn’t a turn lane. I got in the wrong lane…don’t cry, deep breath.
“What the f*** are you doing!!! What are you f***ing doing!!! Are you stupid?”
“Sorry, sorry, I am so sorry.”
“Ya, you’re going to be sorry.”
Oh thank God that woman in the vehicle next to us let me over, “Thank you!!!”
“Stop your damn crying.”
“Okay.” (sniffling) Deep breath, hold tears….
“If you don’t stop I will give you something to cry about.”
“Sorry.” Deep breaths.
“Just f***ing drive.”
“Okay.” (sniffling)
