Marta With Love

Written by: Adrienne Yeardye

Marta imagined satellites
only
for two weeks
and while standing

she calculated their mass
using love math
and smoothed the furrows
over their brows
with her gentle thumb

by her great heart
she taught them to hear
the ocean in a tin can
and tethered them each
to a star
with a gentle string

for safe keeping
