Inspiration Challenge – Birds of a Feather

In This Week's Challenge, Today's Feed

Writer,

The say that Edgar Allen Poe died of rabies. One of his beloved cats bit and infected him. At the time, there was no cure. And just like writing, once you’ve been bitten, once symptoms emerge, there still isn’t a cure.

Great thing about writing communities is that we’re all infected.

As we get back into this community forum, and after the long sabbatical, let’s also reconnect with the writer-genius that lives inside each of us. You know what I mean. Take it out for a drink. Go for a spin around the block. Have a good natter. Catch up. Get to know this part of yourself again.

Reconnecting here together feels amazing. We get to stretch out our wings again, into that beloved space that we created together where we can write and write and write, and give in to that part of ourselves that will never be cured of it’s brilliance.

So this week, take the time to reconnect with the writer in you. This is different than a writer date, it’s not about the inspiration you are seeking outside of yourself. Instead, you are looking to see what that writer is all about on the inside.

For your piece, build a story, a poem, a character, a plot line, a description – could be anything! – around what you see when you connect with this part of yourself.

Bonus: Kill two birds with one stone! Remember that your piece does not have to speak directly to the inspiration challenge. It is not an answer to the challenge. It is merely a jumping off point. Let the challenge take you where your writer self wants to fly.

Write what you see and feel about this part of yourself into whatever shape it takes.

We have a short week with this one! Reminder also that the next challenge will come out on Monday. You can always come back to a challenge, but the deadline also keeps us motivated to bring each piece to a close.

We fly higher and stronger when we write in community.

Fact, fiction, poetry or prose.

Write on.
