Odenibi

I walked along the peak of the roof
barefoot
with Jim Free.
Mohawk from Thunderbay
but I didn’t care.
I loved his big laugh
and his loud ideas.
He spoke easy.
The shingles were still warm from the day.
I curled my toes around the edges
bending the sunset.
“You’re fearless,” he said.
We laughed
and flicked our butts into the street below.
We didn’t care
they were only fiberglass then
floating downstream.
